9 Steps with different Types of idols and occasions
We are keeping golu from past 7 Years

I am keeping golu for more than 22 years. Every year I introduce different themes in my golu. This year I have made many handmade items. I have kept Kalayana set, pongal set, park setting, separate mandapam where I have kept Krishna Idols, Iyyapan swami with theppa kulam and many more.

This year Golu Theme(1) is SankaraNarayanar In illustryouuon with that right half, the entire set of Golu is dedicated to Lord Shiva, shakthi and his family and left half is dedicated to Lord vishnu and Lakshmi devi, Andal depicting their various forms and Incarnations and in the middle is ambal golu depicting the different forms of sakthi

Theme (2) is to emphasize the traditionality inorder to portray that, different historic events, many God and Goddess dolls,traditional temple poojas like Vilakku Poojai, Sathyanarayanan Poojai,Andal Margazhi Poojai,Thulasi Madam Pooja,Purattasi Perumal Valipadu,Graha Lakshmi Valipadu,Arupadai Veedu Murugan temple sutrula,Tiruvannamalai Girivalam,Margazhi Arudra Darshan,Aishwarya Sivan,Different avatars of Vishnu/Lakshmi/Parvathi Devi,Mupperum Devargal/Devigal in kailaya malai and Madurai famous festival, Alagar Vaigai aatril Elenthuarulal is being presented as visual treat in our Golu

Theme (3) Different types of krishna idols, Krishna eating butter, crawling krishna, Panduranga Rukmini idols, Guruvayur krishna, oonjal krishna, yashoda krishna, aalilai krishna etc are being displayed in our golu

Theme (4) A small Village setup is also done to emphasize the importance of agriculture as it is the backbone of our country.
Nowadays Villages are slowly getting modernized to urban cities, and childrens are just seeing the village life in books, To change the pictorial image to live, Entire village with temple setup,Different types of village based occupations and Agriculture land setup is made to showcase the importance of agriculture and village life to the younger generation who visit our home Golu and

Theme (5) Now a days world is moving towards online shopping and we are forgetting our nearby kirana store, We must give space for them and do our daily shopping with them, to give importance for that, a small kirana shop setup is done and all the basic required household items,vessels,groceries,toys,fruits,vegetables are sold in that shop for our purchase.

For everyone Tambulam is provided along with prasadam, mainly for Childrens who visit our home Golu we present them with Notebook, Stationary kit and Pen so that they will be more happy and remember our home Golu till next year, Thanks in advance for conducting the Navaratri Golu contest and providing an opportunity to showcase our home golu to you

Our theme for this year explains the Deha aththma sambhandham and how it attains Sriman Narayana's feet. The concept potraits thejourney of the body in the Leela Vibhudhi and soul to the Nithya Vibhudhi. We displayed the Thirupparkadal with Sri Mahalakshmi at the centre and Paramapadha naathar leading the entire universe. The rest all Nithya sooris inlcuding Alzhwar and Acharyars were seated inside the Nithya Vibhuthi. From Sri Vaikuntam, transcends to Bhooloka Vaikuntam marking the start of leela Vibhuthi.

The way this body ends the journey here in earth [ leela Vibhuthi ] at the feet of Archamoorthy's through our Acharyan, the same way the soul attains the feet of Sriman Narayana in the Nithya Vibhuthi through Acharyan [ Bhagavad Ramanuja ] by Sri Mahalakshmi's anugraham. That way even though the soul and aththma are two different entities, they both have to follow the same process to attain salvation.

This year we also tried a different style of golu steps. My wife has been wishing to have a circular golu steps instead of the traditional one. So, i designed the entire structure and made it out of plywood. We call it as a " 360 degree View " and has come out really good. I am sure and hope all you love our golu.

Happy Navratri:

With Bagavat sangalpam and periyava blessings, we have been keeping golu for last 15+ years. This year our Theme is “Ther Golu n Srirangam Vishwaroopa Darshan.

This 2024 Golu is Story celebration golu . This time we have incorporated many family themed golu dolls and traditional celebrations in local places in tamilnadu. The stories and events speak to us.
This time there is a set of dolls that shows Kavadi thooku festival that happens in Palani temple. There is also a set of dolls that depict the story in which Ramar bridge is built across to Srilanka . There is a set of dolls that shows the marriage celebration.
The bottom two steps shows the livelihoods of people in their day to day routines.
I made dolls by myself like merchant selling groceries, women pulling water from well and women churning curd using clay and cardboard.
All the dolls depict various events and happenings that show our deep rooted traditions and celebrations.

We have been conducting golu for past 3 years with different theme each year.This year includes Temple set with tea shop and savouries ,tender coconut shop which is handcrafted by us.

We have been following the tradition of Golu since generations. I was luck to get the tradition followed at my in-laws place as well. After we moved to North America , first 2 years we were not able to follow the Golu tradition, but me and my husband decided not to give up the tradition and we started from the 3rd year which was around. Since then we have been following the Golu practice and was blessed to continue this in Canada as well. Navarathri has always been one of my most favorite festival as it spills positive vibes and happiness good 10 days . It definitely induces positive energy and the spirit and get us prepared for rest of the year.

I have been keeping Golu for the past 30 years. The highlight is the kolam that I make every year. This year the theme is based on Kamakshi Amman. The temple made is also a replica of Kanchipuram temple.
