This is my second year of keeping golu . We use to keep the golu from my childhood however after my son was born from his 2 year till 10th year we couldn’t keep golu, as he would distrub the dolls . We used to keep pattada gombe in our Pooja room. Now I want him to take part in puja and involve him in our culture.
This is second year where I have concept of Deva Loka - in middle section of three steps - Kailasa , Vaikunta and brahma loka.
With dashavatara and vishwaroopa with few more unique collection on Rama in kiskinda , Panduranga Vittal’s and Rukmini , melukote Narayana and Tayar . I have also handmade 3 shaktipeeta temples - Chamundi gopuram , Jwalaji and kholapur temples in cardboard. This year I have also made a seperate session for my son to keep his creatives to encourage him to continue our tradition.
Thank you so much for this platform to share my story

I wanted to share my approach for this year’s Golu, especially for parents with young children. This is my second year keeping Golu, but I don’t have a specific theme this time. My main priority was to keep my display safe from my two kids, ages 7 and 4. My younger child is autistic, which makes it challenging to keep anything intact at home since he loves to explore.
To protect my Golu, I decided to keep it in the closet. Whenever the kids come back from school, I can quickly push the lamps inside and close the door. This has worked well for me, and I hope it helps other parents who may be facing similar challenges.

Hi, this is Gnana Prasuna, a house wife of age 59. I have been keeping golu for over 20 years.
This time, my Golu theme consists of various small towns. My main attraction this time is Tirumala Hill, which also reflects 7 gopuras and ghat roads, surrounded with lush greenery. My small town consists of various villas, buildings and apartments, which I have hand made most of them in my free time over past few months. The town is equipped with temple for prayers, school to study, park to relax and play, clothing shop to visit and a railway station to go around to these places.
Moreover, I have two sets of 5-stepped stands, which showcases Hindu deities, namely, Ganeshas, Ashtalakshmi, Dasavatharams, Navadurgas, Ardha Nadeshwara and deities from Ramayana. I thank sapthavarna creations for giving me this opportunity to case my Golu to the world.

I have been keeping Golu for 30 years. This year I have kept my largest golu yet, with 13 different concepts. The standard concepts I have kept are Navashakti, Rama Katha and Krishna Leela (Bhaja Govindam). I have additionally also kept 10 unique themes of my own creation - Srishti, En Ragasiyam, Vahanam, Festivals, Incredible India, Azhagiya Tamilnadu, Singaara Chennai, Dinam Oru Deivam, Ashramas and Jodis. I have all kinds of dolls - traditional clay dolls, but also metal, ceramic, and my own DIY paper and thermocol creations. Please watch the video and enjoy the dolls and detailed explanations of each theme!

Banumathi Vaidhyanathan from Chennai.
Our family has been having the Golu for the past 33 years. Every year we think of creating one specific setup of any temple or environment. This year we wanted to exhibit the Mountain Gods along with their families!🙂 So we created Kailash Parbat, Sabarimala and Tirupati. Though we have quite a few addition of dolls to the Golu, the one that was in our minds from the first was the Mountains.
