INTRO

Ours is a Flat-friendly compact Golu with a mix of Traditional, creative, hand made and new thoughts like F1 track, snow world, Desert safari, ATM, Olympic Stadium, Mini Golu( a Golu inside a Golu), Ramar Pattabhishekqm infront of new ayodhya temple and many more!!

We are keeping golu for more than 10 years, in this golu we have decorated our amman Kalasam in a special manner. We have decorated our golu like kalyana mandapam with flowers hanging and serialbulbs are used as roof and banana stem leaf around the golu steps. Golu steps contains colorful dolls representing different gods.

We have been keeping Golu for the past 26 years without fail and have been only improving every year.

In the initial stages, the steps were used to be prepared from wooden planks, trunk boxes, tabels, small utensils, trays, books etc.

And the step decoration started off from simple glittering hangings to contemporary and complex pattern of string bulbs.

At our house the step assembly itself is seen as a mini function where the eldest member of the family to the youngest member take part joyfully.

This year we have arranged Statues of Gods on 5 big steps and have prepared a big park consisting of -

1. Forest with lush green grass covering the entire forest section with lots of wild animal figures arranged to depict a fable story.

2. The Indo- Pak War having each country's base with armed forces having miniature dolls .

3. Village setup decorated with multiple dolls and action figures and decorated with sparkling lights.

4. Kothanda Ramar kovil - Created with card board, A4 sheet and black chart for the steps.

5.Olympics - Depicted a wide vareity of games at Paris olympics. The games involves Volleyball, Archery, Swimming and Badminton. It is decorated with Thermacoal, Medical Gauge and sticks for Net, A4 sheet, colour paper, colour print out of the players. And Swimming pool steps is created with the help of soldering wire.

6. Chandrayaan 3 Rocket- Made out of cardboard, chart and the Model names, logos and Indian flag on the rocket was drawn by 6 year old kid with the sketch.

7. Park has been decorated with mini play games of children playing on it with a ice cream shop.

8. Andaman nicobar Islands - A beach house created with Thermacoal, A4 sheets, textured colour paper with Mini houses and small trees and a beautiful restaurant.

9. Swimming Pool- Made out of Mask and soldering wire and print outs.



This year we have prepared few Golu projects in Diorama version. We have our beautiful God and Goddess idols in our Golu Steps. Each idol depicts a wonderful story from all the 5 steps. We have majorly worked on projects like Paris Olympics, where we created with our own idea to prepare the model out of the resources from home (made out of Surgical Mask, Thermacoal, Medical gauge, sticks, A4 sheet, colour paper, colour print out of the players and tooth pick , Temple , (Involves a LED strip light), Indo Pak war Army base, Chandrayaan 3, Beach house at Andaman Nicobar, Park, Forest, Village. Everything in our Golu is Self prepared. Our whole family was involved in preparing the Golu. Having 2 persons working from home and a 3 year old kid and 6 year old kid.

I have been doing this for more than 25 years now.
We start many old collection combined with new comprising of krishna and Rama themes and also a Garuda seva set. I enjoy doing this and it is great time celebrate with family and friends.

This year gold is special for us we are successfully completing 50th year.

This year we have highlighted Ram Mansor at ayodhya and wedding ceremonies.

From past 15 years we are keeping golu and the last year theme was chandrayan -3 and this year theme is about Rama-sethuve

Our theme for this year is about devis and the significance of Maha Meru. We have represented our golu steps in the form of Maha Meru, which is the 3d form of Sri Chakra. The Sri Chakra is considered as the highest form of Devi worship.

The Golu is a 10 ft x 10ft - 4 sided structure. Each side of this structure is dedicated to a different goddess.

The Maha Meru structure, from bottom to top, consists of three concentric squares, three concentric circles, two layers of lotus petals, followed by interlocking triangles, all culminating in the Bindu. In this setup, the Bindu is symbolized by Goddess Mahishasura Mardini.

Each layer of the Meru structure symbolizes a stage in spiritual progress of a devotee. The square boundary represents the physical world. The circles represent the materialistic things The 2 layered lotus petals represent vital aspects of life, such as 5 senses, 5 elements, 8 naadis of the body, etc. The interlocking triangles represent the spiritual progress and the Bindu, which is the union of Shiva and Shakti represents the culmination of spiritual journey and attainment of oneness with the universe

Theme - Agriculture with kids theme golu
Small write up highlighting important aspects of my Golu is based on Farming and Agriculture is main aspect. Then Amman, Dasawathar, Ayyappa , Pongal, Katcheri, Rotating Bal Krishna and mainly kids related dolls Cartoon characters like Motu Patlu, chota beem, Bal Ganesh, Crystal jelly balls with kitchen sets to play for kids friendly special golu. My daughters handmade crafts like water fall on wooden board, Krishna drawing with crafts, Miniature fridge magnets like Dosa, Idly wada samosa, chai, etc are special in this year. Thank you🙏😊.

Experience our vibrant 5-step Golu, showcasing divine dolls and idols. From Kalasam to Navaratri celebrations, every step tells a story. Traditional Marapachi dolls, Lord Murugar, and Dasavataram idols adorn our Golu.

This intricately crafted Murugar idol is creatively fashioned from a draped saree on a kuthu vilakku (traditional lamp). The deity's attire is meticulously crafted:

- The shirt is fashioned from the saree itself.
- The veshti (dhoti) is crafted from an angavasthiram (a type of cloth).
- The blouse is transformed into a majestic turban through precise ironing and folding.

To add a touch of grandeur:

- The vel (spear) is crafted using a calendar sheet and adorned with glitter tape.
- The sevarkodi (decorative canopy) is also made from calendar sheet and embellished with glitter tape.

This innovative and artistic approach brings the Murugar idol to life, showcasing devotion and creativity.

Thanga ther for murugar is crafted using thermacol.

Am Seema Giri Bharath from Brampton Canada, its lovely to follow my mothers tradition every year with all that passion and creative side she had. I have been following it with my other 3 sisters after my wedding as mother decided to stop hers and shared all the dolls between our sisters.
This year i have more concentrated on Tirupati collections as many i can as well as trying to collect all 108 divyasatam of vishnus.
